Rainforest Retreat

June 14-16, 2024

|

Maple Ridge

Get immersed in the world around us and dive deep into British Columbia’s rich ecology with this unique Rainforest Retreat weekend! During this weekend, you will wake up and travel with the birds, hike amongst old-growth forests and dine on food foraged right from the forest all while learning about plants, soils, birds, mindfulness and more. This is more than your typical wellness weekend. You will leave this weekend more connected to nature and the forests that we live amongst, while also gaining valuable knowledge about our local coastal ecosystems.

Taking place at the private and serene Loon Lake Lodge & Retreat Centre, located within the Malcolm Knapp Research Forest in Maple Ridge, accommodation, meals and activities are all provided. See secluded areas of the forest not often visited while also getting the opportunity to participate in yoga sessions, canoeing, swimming, sunset walks, and forest bathing, before ending your day cozied up by the campfire. Dr. Eric Anderson will guide participants to ID the many bird species that call the Malcolm Knapp Research Forest home, and Chef Robin Kort from Swallow Tail Tours will create a tailored foraged forest picnic for the group to enjoy at one of the many beautiful and private research forest lakes. Embark on a forest exploration tour, where you will explore native plants across elevations. Immerse yourself in diverse forest habitats and the connections between plant life and other organisms in the forest.

Accommodations are in the Pan Abode building at Loon Lake Lodge & Retreat Centre. Accommodations are dorm style, double room or single room (based on availability, limited space available). Washrooms are shared. Meals are prepared by the highly talented Loon Lake Lodge & Retreat chefs. Dietary needs can be accommodated (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, allergies).
